Services

The Maumee Senior Center is not your parents' senior center. We serve anyone 50 & better at The Maumee Senior Center! Currently, we see more than 530 individuals of all ages. You're never too young to visit us!

 

For many of our participants, we are able to provide answers and services for exactly what they need, including:

Nutrition Program

We are proud to serve freshly prepared lunches. Each lunch is based on a solid nutritional foundation for all seniors and are available at a minimal suggested donation of $2.50 for people 60 or older.

 

Beginning in May 2022, MSC is offering two entree lunch options for dine in service. Reservations are encouraged.

Once a month we offer a "Dinner To Go" where a meal can be reserved and taken home. Again, each meal is freshly made and nutritionally sound.

We have developed a network of experts to help our seniors with questions on: insurance, housing availability, legal questions, meals and other information of interest to them.

We are pleased to help our clientele with applications to/for:

  • Golden Buckeye Card

  • Durable Powers of Attorney

  • Handicapped Parking Permits

  • HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program)

  • Living Wills

  • Medicare

  • New Homestead Reduction Form

  • Supplemental Insurance

At least twice a month, professionals from area businesses and local organizations will come in to present a wide variety of topics geared toward seniors, including: financial planning, legal services, Social Security, Medicaid/Medicare supplemental insurance, home and personal safety, and so much more. Keep an eye on our events calendar for these presentations.

Transportation

Residents 60+ living in Maumee, South Toledo, Monclova, Holland, Neapolis, Waterville and Whitehouse may access Maumee Senior Center's Transportation Services. For a nominal fee, seniors may be picked up and dropped off from their home to MSC.

 

Visits to area physicians, grocery shopping and more are available from our Transportation Department. Please schedule your transport a minimum of 48 hours in advance.

Outreach Assistance

We are pleased to offer resources for senior homeowners who may need help fixing up their homes. Please note, you do not need to be a resident of Maumee or a Booster Club Member to use this service.

Health Screening

Health Screening/Vaccine Assistance

Monthly Health Checks

Research shows that early diagnosis of any disease or condition is the first step toward cure or control. In cooperation with  UTMC, the Center provides health checks (Blood pressure, height, weight, health consulting) once  per month. Improve your chances of good health by staying informed of your health status!

In addition, the Center provides periodic health screenings such as vision, hearing, cholesterol, bone density and other screenings to our seniors.

Vaccine Assistance​

Annual flu shots may be scheduled through the Maumee Senior Center. In addition, we're helping seniors without internet services or who are not comfortable with online scheduling for a COVID-19 vaccine appointment.  Follow these instructions for help:

  • Call the Maumee Senior Center at 419-893-1994 between 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday through Friday

  • We will complete your scheduling form with you over the phone.

  • We can assist with transportation to your appointment if needed.

We will do our best to assist you with the information we have available at the present time, but for additional information and questions, please contact your physician.

Legal Assistance

Legal Consultations are available at the Maumee Senior Center on the First Tuesday of every month between 10 a.m. and Noon.

Benefits Counseling

When the time comes, deciding on the right Medicare plan can be an overwhelming and difficult decision, but we are here to help! Whether on Medicare or a Medicare Advantage plan, we can help make sure you’re receiving the best benefits for you!

 

Maumee Senior Center Outreach Coordinator Laree Shroyer is OSHIIP (Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program) certified and trained to help make sense of the plans available. Medical Equipment Loan   Program

The Center also offers various durable equipment to those in need. They include such items as: crutches, canes, walkers, shower seats, etc. Rental of equipment is handled on a donation basis. Caregiver Support Group

Caring for a loved one can be stressful and we want to support you. Please join us to share your story and ideas and to meet other people in similar situations. We meet the last Tuesday of every month at 10 a.m.
