Outreach / Health Services
(You do not have to be a resident of Maumee or booster club member to utilize our services)
Need Household Assistance? Eliminate the fear of hiring unknown maintenance people for household chores. Whether you are looking for someone to do some painting, light housekeeping, lawn work, snow removal, etc., call the Senior Center for referrals. Our referrals have been screened, references have been checked, and follow-up will be made to determine satisfaction with the service and provider.
Weekly Health Checks. Research has shown that early diagnosis of any disease or condition is the first step toward cure or control. In cooperation with the Toledo/Lucas County Health Department 60+ Program, the Center provides health checks ( blood pressure, height, weight, health consulting) on Thursday mornings between the hours of 9 - 11:45 a.m. Improve your chances of good health by staying informed of your health status.
In addition, the Center provides periodic health screenings such as vision, hearing, cholesterol, bone density, and other health screenings. Annual flu shots are also available as scheduled.
60+ Nurses are in our Center every Thursday morning from 9 - 11 a.m., doing weight checks, blood pressure checks and even more testing if the need arises. The nurses are also available for consultation about medications and other medical subjects of interest.
Assistance Equipment Available. The Center also offers various durable equipment to those in need. They include such items as crutches, canes, walkers, shower seats, etc. Rental of equipment is handled on a donation basis.
Volunteers are always appreciated! You can help out by volunteering in a variety of ways. Ask us how you can help.
